Brides BEWARE!

So you have your dream dress in mind and you have booked the weekend off to go with your mum or bridesmaids to try it on. After entering the shop and trying on numerous dresses you decide on one.

One that took your breath away.
One that bedazzled you.
One that was just you.

You would think that most brides (obviously budget permitting of course), would purchase that dress there and then wouldn’t you?
But they don’t.

Some brides have made the decision to have the dress of their dreams made abroad for a lot less as some make shift businesses have taken it upon themselves to copy, yes I did say COPY the design.

Great, I hear you shout. Well actually no, not so great.

We have spoken to numerous bridal businesses who feel strongly about this. Now you may think healthy competition is good, but believe me this is no competition when you see how shocking the dresses are that have been designed abroad.

The original designers price their dresses at a higher price bracket for a reason.

Because they have you in mind.

Manufacturers in long haul destinations, are working on conveyor belt systems and do not consider the bride who is wearing the dress. This becomes apparent once the bride has bought and purchased the product over the internet and then is sent to her home.

Upon arrival most brides are devastated to find that their ‘’Princess Dress’’ is a complete right off and any alterations made here in the UK cannot rectify a bad design.

Now, spending £300 on a dream dress form abroad is not what you would call a personal service to the bride, nor is it made with you in mind. The quality of the material is poor and some of the bridal companies we have spoken to have said ‘’you cannot work on these dresses because of the bad design and the structure is completely wrong, especially with corseted dresses. Once the bone’s to the design are in place rectifying this is just impossible’’.

After talking to one bridal business in Milton Keynes, the owner was extremely concerned for Brides  and had purchased a dress herself to show brides what kind of a mess the dress turned up like. The owner commented ‘’ the material is poor and once we show brides this they rethink their decision and opt to purchase something of a higher couture standard. One mother made a remark and said that having a show dress to inform people was a good idea and that more brides needed to know about this’’.

When talking to these bridal companies, the concern for Brides was great, purely for the fact that Brides were missing out on their dream dress and having a nightmare frock instead.

Brides be aware that if you do purchase one of these dresses, any dress maker or tailor will probably have difficulty in helping rectify something which is impossible and end up costing you a lot more than you anticipated probably what you would have spent on a real quality dream dress!

Please make your own decision on this, however Fussy Wedding did feel that this is something brides do not know enough about and we will be keeping up to date regarding this matter.

Let’s make sure no other bride has to go through this disaster and let’s keep the dream of the Wedding Dress alive. After all isn’t it all about the dream dress?

If you have had a nightmare story or even a success story regarding this matter then please do let us know as your feedback ensures that good information is passed around and potential brides are warned off or advised otherwise.
