Financing Your Wedding
Organising a wedding is great fun and exciting for all of those involved.
Paying for it is the not so fun part. With society the way it is everyone wants to save a few pounds here and there, and still benefit from luxury.
Fussy wedding offer ideas and solutions to funding your wedding. From early payment schemes to low interest loans.
We all have an ideal price we would like to pay for our big day and this can get ‘’out of hand’’ as no expense is spared. However some useful tips and advice that could help you finance the wedding are listed below.
1, Make a list of all suppliers for the wedding and get quotes ONLY to start with. Obtain 3-5 like for like quotes and find out who can give you the best deal.
2, Cost the whole wedding up before you buy anything!!! That way you have a budget to work towards and you can cut costs on things which are not so important. Also remember hen and stag nights, allowing a little extra in case you over budget. It’s always best to budget more than to go over the limit you have allowed for!
3, Check out costs for different days of the week and the year. Most people can tend to get married on a Friday or Saturday, around May to Sept and this can prove to be an expensive time. Some businesses in the wedding field offer lower rates during the winter months and some weddings can now take place other days of the week!
4, Find out who is helping pay towards your wedding!, Yes it may be cheeky but parents often do put their hands in their pockets for this occasion and its nice to know about any contributions from family or friends to help work within the budget. The brides family used to pay most of the wedding costs, however as times have changed the grooms family may also want to contribute, as well as the couple themselves.
5, Instead of a gift list why don’t you ask for people to give you money towards your honeymoon or travel vouchers?
The average honeymoon could set you back £2000 and if you have 200 guests that’s a tenner each! You could ask them to pay in advance to the travel company to decrease the remaining value of the holiday, rather than asking them to buy a gift from a large department store that you don’t really want or need!
6, Take out a small loan early so you can start repaying an equal amount back monthly without deadlines for final payments and having to shell out on large sums of money. (We would never advise you to get a loan this information is for ideas only!). There are companies out there who do offer wedding loans to help you taking into consideration that the average wedding is estimated at £17,000.
7, Obtain Wedding Insurance! …… Not many people tend to think about insuring their Wedding day but if the unthinkable should happen or an item becomes destroyed or unusable then having the correct cover for your day seems a very sensible idea. For as little as £24 you could be covered completely!
8, Think about how many people you want to invite to the ceremony. This can be a pricey deal as catering and ‘sit down’ meals can be a little on the expensive side. Instead why not invite them to the evening buffet where you can enjoy their company and know you have saved some pennies.
9, Time is money and money is time. Employ friends and family tasks to help you with as they can search around for the best deals for you which will take some of the pressure off you and will involve others who want to assist you. You can still make the final financial decision and think with your purse strings rather than your heart!
10, Ask for discounts or large group reductions….if you don’t ask …you don’t get!
